They have a fail-safe built in where they only have to hire if there's 1 person in the finals, so if they don't advance anyone from semis they could no hire, however they've never had to resort to doing that
I believe they can also decide to vote to hire a winner in the semis as well, like if one candidate already sticks out above the rest, they can vote to end the audition and hire rather than hear more rounds. Has anyone else heard of this happening there?
Definitely some ideas there that others could learn from!
I heard that in this audition they ran the semifinalss twice because no candidate got enough votes the first time around, so clearly they are trying to avoid no hires at all cost. There were 2 in finals after the second round of semis.
I’m told Mariko Wyrick won this
Notice how the MET virtually always hires? One of the great orchestras of the world, and they can do it. What not the others?
