I recently saw the North Carolina concertmaster opening announcement, with an ad for the salary at 67k. I thought it looked low, so I decided to do a little ProPublica stalking....Previous concertmaster (See Brian Reagin in the attached screenshot) was making well over $125k......
What on earth is this salary listing?! Why are they trying to low-ball even the youngest of candidates? For an orchestra with an operating budget that size, this is ridiculous.
I assume there will be salary negotiation with the musician who wins the job, but the discrepancy just seems outrageous. What is going on over there??
I don’t think they are lowballing anyone, they are simply listing the base salary of their orchestra. It’s listed under the “details” section further down the page you’re speaking of.
