Anyone know his motivation for leaving CSO? Obviously Philly is in the same league, but one would think CSO is more iconic as a trumpet player.

Fairly certain that CSO does not do "auto to finals", but rather a sort of invited semi that happens outside the general audition schedule. Then the survivors of semis, directly-invited or otherwise, go to a general final round.

Pretty sure this is incorrect information. 3 other players have been invited to do orchestral rounds later in the season.
