*EDIT: OP edited original post for clarity* The way the post is written, it looks like the user is referring to the Edmonton Symphony’s wages, not Fort Wayne. I would appreciate some clarification on that, as I don’t take too kindly to the insinuation that my orchestra is not one of quality. We have many auditions coming up, and I would hope, should those auditions go international, that premier American talent would consider applying for a great job in a fantastic hall, in a good and affordable city.

Edmonton Symphony member here - base pay in our orchestra is 62k and principals make 75k at least. Not sure where you’re getting your numbers from but they are not current. I can assure you we make more than a living wage, especially considering rent in Edmonton is a fraction of what you would pay in any other major Canadian city.
